According to Dr. Massarat  Zutshi a colorectal surgeon, “you first realize that haemorrhoids normally do not hurt, but may bleed painlessly.”

She added that if they do hurt, the haemorrhoids may have moved to the outside of the anal canal (or prolapsed) during a bowel movement and can become enlarged. If the haemorrhoids develop a blood clot, or become thrombosed they can become especially painful.

There are many ways people may try to shrink down painful haemorrhoids, which might be helpful at best or harmful at worst.
But before you try possible home treatments, proper diagnosis is important and critical.


These are some of the possible home treatments for haemorrhoids:
1. Sitz Baths – experts recommends people with painful haemorrhoids to sit in warm water for 15 minutes for several times a day, most especially after a bowel movement.
(Sitz bath is a small bowl that fits right over your toilet and it offers a convenient way to soak and soothe the affected area). A sitz bath is generally available at a local pharmacy.
2. Witch Hazel (Some people apply witch hazel directly to the skin for itching, pain and swelling (inflammation), eye inflammation, skin injury, mucous membrane inflammation, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, bruises, insect bites, minor burns, acne, sensitive scalp, and other skin irritations.). Witch hazel is reputed to reduce pain, itching and bleeding until hemorrhoids fade out.  Supporters says it tighten the skin as a natural anti-inflammatory.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar - Some people say that apple cider vinegar can bring instant relief to hemorrhoids, reducing itching and pain.
4. Psyllium husk - Psyllium is a bulk-forming laxative. This means it soaks up water in your gut and makes bowel movements" much easier. It also helps promote regularity without increasing flatulence. It can be used as a one-off to ease constipation, or it can be added to your diet to help promote regularity and overall digestive health.
Psyllium husk is a supplement that helps increase your fiber intake, and softens stools to make them easier to pass.
5. Aloe Vera - The anti-inflammatory properties of aloe vera may help soothe inflammation of hemorrhoids. It has shown some beneficial for other inflammatory conditions.

 6. Tea Tree Oil – the antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of tea tree oil may reduce swelling and itching caused by haemorrhoids.
7. Epsom Salt and Glycerin – it helps treat painful haemorrhoids.
Here’s how to make a compound that you can apply directly on the haemorrhoids:
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts with 2 tablespoons of glycerin
  • Apply the mixture to a gauze pad and place it on the painful area
  • Leave this application on the area for 15-20 minutes
  • Repeat every four to six hours until the pain eases
